Went to Hwa Chong Institution to watch the final debate between River Valley and St. Nicholas. This was a chinese debate, not english. Most of the debaters were like from China, their accent gave them away. They spoke very fast, which was like so difficult for me to catch what they were saying. I wondered if the judges truly understood what the people from China were saying.
There was this one guy from River Valley. When he started talking, we all laughed, especially the supporters from St. Nicholas. Why? Because his accent was like so thick that when he spoke, it came out all weird. Then the fourth debater from St. Nicholas was more suited to be a TV Reporter. She kept describing how the debaters from River Valley spoke. She could even kept track of how many times she had been repeating the points over again. So funny.
Overall, it was very entertaining. The worst part of this trip, well besides the stench of the bus seats, the auditorium was like damn cold. I was literally freezing. Because of that, visited the toilets for two times. And there was like no time for break. I had breakfast at 6 plus a.m. So by the time the debate was halfway finished, I was starving. Felt like throwng up. The MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh had to make it worst by giving us a speech of her background: which secondary school she went to and where she went to for work. Everyone was like bored to sleep by her speech that they eventually went to sleep.
In the end, St. Nicholas won. My school was like what? We expected River Valley to win. Well, what was done has been done, we cannot rewrite history. Anyways, it was a very entertaning debate and an eye-opening one too!
